Summary

Founded in 50 DB, Gavek was primarily built to be a trading hub and its western neighbor, Richport a shipping center. They were built at a time when the waters of the Cataclysm were near their highest and had not yet receded. Over the years, the ocean got farther and farther away from Richport, making it harder and harder to maintain its status as a port.

Over time, Gavek transformed itself into a center for banking and art and Richport fell into decline, splitting into multiple, smaller townships.

Major Features

Hagivi frequently refer to Gavek as the "city of parks" because it has a lot of them. In the second century of Daybreak, Cayhold (now North Gavek) was founded on the edge of a deep-water cay to the north and west of Richport and a trading war erupted between them. Gavek acted as a clearinghouse and waypoint for both parties and made huge sums of money in the process. To show their civic pride, the city burghers wound up competing over who could built the best park or public garden. This was triggered by the creation of Great Turtle Park.
