During the Betrayer's War, the Calderan wizard Egai Peux cursed Caer Petra with the Curse of the Seedless, a powerful spell that guaranteed no woman born within one hundred miles of the stronghold would ever conceive a child. Because of this, in later years, Caer Petra became known as the City of Wives and Mothers.
