The Great Library at Caldera Academy is the greatest collection of books on history and the arcane outside of the Great Library of Iona and even contains a few books considered too dangerous to be shared with that institution. It also contains the Essential Tome.
The building itself is over 10,000 years old and warded with spells a hundred levels deep. Goa, daughter of Li Stardancer oversaw the warding of the first library and many of her techniques have been maintained or refined in the intervening years. A joke commonly repeated by the staff is that, when Jieh destroys Tierra, the library will float among the stars intact.
Access to the Great Library is strictly limited, but much of its information is transcribed and the copies stored in the Lesser Library, which is freely accessible to students and staff at the Academy and for a suitable donation to those with friendly or better reputation with the Academy.
